There are few breakfast items that are more quintessentially California than avocado toast. While there are numerous ways to make a delicious avocado toast, here are my tips for a simple and flavorful option.
I. Toast a slice of bread. I recommend homemade sourdough.
II. Mash up avocados and spread on the toasted bread.
III. Add sea salt, cayenne pepper, & sesame seeds.
Additional Thoughts:
- I encourage experimentation here. I personally prefer the simple version described above to help highlight the flavors of my self-made bread. However, there are many creative ways to vary this recipe by:
- adding toppings such as olive oil, radishes, and eggs
- mashing in other ingredients such as lime or ricotta
